I just saw the title of the deleted post. Very nasty.
I got cooties for being a girl and smart. In those days (the late 70s) the ideology was 'wear eyepencil and simper and love will find you'. Unfortunately I was good at chemistry. Instant death.
Then in my twenties and thirties people said, 'When you stop looking for someone, then you'll find someone'.
Now in my forties the ideology is 'If you haven't found someone then you must not be wanting it hard enough/in the right way/positively enough'.
I wonder, sometimes, what they will taunt us with in our fifties.
Personally I say things like, 'what bad luck you've had', and not stuff like, 'oh don't be so negative, the love of your life will come along soon'. (To which the only reply is, 'well, he'd better get the next bus or I'll be dead before he gets here'.)
What lines of crap have people dished out to you personally?

Okay, I might not actually belong here, because I have a boyfriend. But I still feel like I have cooties. He doesn't treat me like a princess and I must have caught cooties sometime in the last year. What to do?
Usually I galvinize men by having other dates and it works but the last time I tried that it got out of hand. Perhaps this was when I contracted cooties. I think my mistake was
that my extracurricular date was bi, not straight, just not my cup of tea.

I know it's difficult to accept, but once you admit that you have cooties, you can then begin to learn coping techniques and, perhaps, even find a cure.

My name is Rati and I have cooties! There, I said it!

I don't know where it came from or how i got it, but I suspect I was actually born with it. Perhaps my mother was exposed while pregnant with me. Who knows? I seem to be the only one in my family with the cooties, though.

I give good phone, I give good IM--people see me online and somehow fall virtually in love. Then, we meet in person. I am the same person--men have even told me that I'm better looking than my picture, although, to me, the picture looks better. And yet, there's something… What can it be? Well, now I know: it's must be my cooties.

Hmmm, wonder if I can form a local Cooties Anonymous here? Surely there are many others with this affliction living right in this city.
