I just saw the title of the deleted post. Very nasty.
I got cooties for being a girl and smart. In those days (the late 70s) the ideology was 'wear eyepencil and simper and love will find you'. Unfortunately I was good at chemistry. Instant death.
Then in my twenties and thirties people said, 'When you stop looking for someone, then you'll find someone'.
Now in my forties the ideology is 'If you haven't found someone then you must not be wanting it hard enough/in the right way/positively enough'.
I wonder, sometimes, what they will taunt us with in our fifties.
Personally I say things like, 'what bad luck you've had', and not stuff like, 'oh don't be so negative, the love of your life will come along soon'. (To which the only reply is, 'well, he'd better get the next bus or I'll be dead before he gets here'.)
What lines of crap have people dished out to you personally?
